As has been happening a lot in Marvel’s phase 4 projects, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine turns up in the movie. She’s only in a few scenes, investigating what happened to a US ship that was looking for Vibranium.
Most of those scenes also feature Martin Freeman’s Everett K Ross, and it’s revealed in an off-hand comment that the two actually used to be a couple.
Completing spoiling her appearance in the film for those who didn’t see it in its first two days, Louis-Dreyfus posted some behind the scenes pictures on her Instagram, both featuring Valentina’s purple streak.
Her first picture featured herself with director Ryan Coogler, with her captioned reading: “I love this man”, while her second had her posing with Freeman, with the caption: “SPOILER ALERT: Me and the Ex.”

Before the film’s release, there has been plenty of discussion about how the sequel would be without Chadwick Boseman. As stated in Digital Spy‘s review, the sequel is actually an improvement on the original.
One of the future Marvel projects the film sets up is the Secret Invasion series, with Martin Freeman recently telling us that it will feel different to other projects in the MCU so far.
